Infection
Control Day - 10th March, 2010
The institute
observed 10th March, 2010 as Infection Control Day. The
main objective is to give awareness and to sensitize the
staff nurses and the patient attendants etc. about the importance
of infection control. A Infection Control Competition was
held among all the wards. the Intermediate Medical Ward
(IMC) was awarded the best ward. The best model (Infection
Control model) is awarded to Dialysis Ward (ist prize);
Coronary Care Unit (2nd prize); Male Surgical Ward ( 3rd
prize). Best Poster Composition was awarded to Intermediate
Medical Ward (IMC) (1st prize); Medcine Ward & Plastic
Surgery Ward (2nd Prize); ENT ward (3rd prize). Slogan Competition:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU); Paediatric Ward (2nd Prize) &
CTVS ward (3rd prize).
The exhibition
on infection control organized by all the wards of the hospital
was a tremendous sucess.
National
Convention of Medical Library Association of India
HIHT University
organized the Annual National Convention of Medical Library
Association of India (MLAI) 28-30 January 2010. The 3-day
convention started with lamp lighting and guru vandana.
Vice Chancellor Shri Vijay Dhasmana was Chief Guest. Dr.V.
Chauhan Dean HIHT University, and Dr. Raj KumarChauhan,
National Secretary MLAI, graced the occasion. More than
50 medical librarians from all parts of India participated
in the convention. There were over 41 full papers in five
technical sessions during the meeting on different softwares
for medical libraries, emerging technologies, digital and
virtual libraries. Presentations by different publishers
included anti theft techniques (RFID), bar codes,evidence
based medical librarianship and marketing of library services.
Dr. Anil Kumar Rawat, Chairman of the conference, and Mr.
Yogesh Sharma, Organizing Secretary, along with the Chairman
of the Library Committee, Dr. Sanjay Dvivedi, put their
effort to make it a grand success.
HIHT-ORBIS
Hospital Based Program
The Department
of Ophthalmology in collaboration with ORBIS organized a
"Hospital Based Program" from 25th -28th January
2010. A CME was also organized on 26th January. Dr. Harsh
Bahadur, HOD, Dept. of Ophthalmology welcomed the gathering,
followed by lamp lighting to inaugurate the session. The
HIHT-ORBIS Project was described in brief, and Dr. Mark
A. Cepela from Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, the keynote
speaker, was introduced. Shri Vijay Dhasmana, Vice Chancellor
HIHT University, the Chief Guest, addressed the audience,
followed by High Tea. Dr. Cepela gave his presentations
on "Epiphora: Diagnosis and Management," and "The
Role of Levator Function, the Evaluation and Treatment of
Ptosis." The session ended with a vote of thanks. A
guest lecture was also delivered by to the faculty by Dr.
Cepela on 28th January. Dr. Amit Maitreya, Asso. Prof.,
Dept. Opthalmology, was the Organizing Secretary.
BASANTOTSAV
in HIHT
Recreation
Club of HIHT organized BASANTOTSAV or ‘Garhwali Lok
Sangeet’ on the evening of 21st January 2010, depicting
the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. Vice Chancellor
Mr. Vijay Dhasmana, Medical Superintendent Dr. S.L. Jethani,
Mr. Rupesh Mehrotra and other faculty members, staff &
their family were present. The talented artists of Uttarakhand
presented typical, ethnic lok sangeet and dance of Garhwal
and Kumaon regions. Melodious music through various instruments
of an old era was also featured.
Highlight of the evening was when the performers made tea
on the head of one of the dancers. Everybody enjoyed the
evening in spite of cold, chilly, foggy whether.

Cultural Evening 2010
On 25th
January 2010, Recreation Club of HIHT celebrated Employees
Cultural Evening. Staff and faculty participated in this
function with all enthusiasm and excitement. Songs, dances
and skits were performed by the staff. Best Skit Award was
given to Sholey Ulta Pulta. Best Solo Dance was performed
by Mr. Yogender. Best Female Singer was
Ms. Tulika, working as nursing staff. Attraction of the
evening was the staff fashion parade depicting Unity in
Diversity through different state costumes. Melodious songs
were sung by Mr. Vijay Dhasmana, Dr. Harsh Bahadur, and
Dr. Anita Sharma. Families of all staff enjoyed this function.
Staff
New Year Party 2010
On the
evening of 16th January 2010, Recreation Club of HIHT celebrated
a great gala event to bring in the New Year. Faculty, staff,
and their families joined together to make this evening
a memorable party. Dr.Harsh Bahadur welcomed everyone and
then handed
over the mike to Dr. Namita Mehrotra. She along with her
colleague, Dr. Gita Negi, had organized many fun games for
gents, ladies, and children. People enjoyed a lot. In between
there were surprise gifts, lucky draw, karaoke, and dancing
on DJ floor. The most attractive
and enjoyable events were fun games for gents like wearing
sari as quickly as possible, and dancing on DJ floor making
“thumka” only. At the end everybody enjoyed the
dancing on DJ floor and delicious dinner
