Dissection Competition
The dissection competition
was organized by the department of Anatomy, HIHT from 23rd
March 2009 to 28th March 2009.
 
The dissection competition
was conducted under the guidance and supervision of faculty
and post graduate students of department of Anatomy. 50
specimens (2 students each) were planned. The topics of
dissection were vast and diverse ranging from the superficial
to deep dissection of throughout the region of the body.
Every student dissected the parts enthusiastically. Finally
this was evaluated by Principal-cum- Dean Dr. A.K. Lal and
Dr.Anuradha Kusum.
 
The prize distribution
ceremony was held on the 31st of March and was graced by
the honorable presence of the Vice Chancellor Mr. Vijay
Dhasmana , Member of Presidential Body, Dr. V. Chauhan and
Principal-cum- Dean Dr. A.K. Lal. The first position was
bagged by Suchitra Singh, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar and Om Prakash
who dissected on the posterior abdominal wall and thoracic
wall. The second position was won by two teams- Shivani
Dhaka and Sasha Labru (topic of dissection: 4th layer of
sole), and Priyank Pathak and Shweta Chauhan (topic of dissection:
Anterior triangle of neck). The third position holders were
3 teams consisting of Ankur Vashisht and Rohit Singh (topic:
Branchopulmonary tree), Deepti Randev and Ashish Kumar (topic:
flexor compartment of forearm and hand) & Vivek Kumar
Pandey and Ambuj Rai (topic: Brachial Plexus). All the students
received participation certificates.
 
After a week of hard
work and sweat the dissection competitions came to an end
with a new found self confidence attained by every student
at having done fine and precise dissections their very own
and having established something valuable enough to be preserved
in the museum of the department of Anatomy. The dissection
competition was surely a golden opportunity for the students
of 14th batch and was an occasion where learning met sheer
fun. It came as a break from monotonous lectures for the
students and became a memory which will last a lifetime.
